Survivor Story: Starr Coleman
I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in May 2018 at 27, just shy of my 27th birthday. I was fearful of how this would affect my future chance of a family. I have learned that I can’t live in the future, I can only live in the now. Controlling the things that I can control makes me feel like I still have power over the situation. I can’t make it go away, but I can make my best self during this time. Concentrating on wellness has really helped me get through along with a great support system. I would encourage other survivors to find their thing, that one thing that makes them feel good. I would also encourage people to let their feelings out when need be. Not holding them in because you feel the need to be strong. Let yourself grieve at any point in the process but don’t stay in that grief. Let your light shine!
