Komen Scholar: Dr. David Livingston

Dr. David Livingston, Deputy Director of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine and Genetics at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA) has contributed to the breast cancer field by identifying the role of mutant genes, such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 in triggering breast cancer development. Dr. Livingston’s Komen-funded research aims to provide new insight into the role of BRCA1 so that new treatments for BRCA1-positive breast cancer can be created. He received the Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction in Basic Science in 1997 and has been a Komen Scholar since 2010.
