The COVID-19 pandemic has led to more than 1.2 million Floridians losing their jobs and the health insurance that went with them. Breast cancer patients need you now more than ever. We have an easy way for you to help. Will you join us in the fight against this disease and help us save lives where we live?

On behalf of the women (and men) of Florida, we ask you to join us in the fight against breast cancer by participating in Downtowns Go Pink. In Florida, 13,728 women are diagnosed annually with 4,844 of those discovered in late stages and 2,704 women losing their battle each year. The Downtowns Go Pink initiative allows businesses to become destination hotspots by offering special promotions to raise funds to ensure access to screening and diagnostic services, connect patients to needed care, and conduct breakthrough research, especially for the most aggressive and deadly forms of breast cancer. It is a great way to positively position and promote your business while supporting those in need of breast health services. Downtowns Go Pink will recognize your support throughout the length of your donation period, but especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

In the past 30 years Susan G. Komen has invested nearly $57 million in community-based breast health programs across Florida, providing care for local women and men who desperately need it. To date, the organization has invested $6.31M in the state for treatment assistance, $15.42M for research against the deadliest forms of the disease – including a new, special focus on metastatic breast cancer, $26.12M for screening, and $9.03M for education.

How it works: Along with other businesses and restaurants, we ask you to select a time period and pledge a tax-deductible donation to Susan G. Komen. Whether you are able to offer a percentage of your daily/nightly sales for a day, a week, a month, or longer; or a flat amount, even one dollar per item sold, we deeply appreciate your financial support and we’ll show it! Some supporters select a specific product and donate a portion of sales for that product for a month or even for a whole year. It’s entirely up to you.

Community-wide recognition: Susan G. Komen will publicize the event through a multi-media effort, including public relations efforts, e-marketing, social media, and our website which has an average of 4,300+ unique visitors per month. Your logo will also be featured on e-blasts distributed to more than 58,000 Komen supporters in the state of Florida. We invite you to place our flyers in your business and on your social media platforms to show your support and encourage shoppers to visit you during the month-long event. These flyers will be designed by us and easily available for download.

Why: Susan G. Komen saves lives by ensuring support for women and men who have nowhere else to turn. When you participate in Komen’s Downtowns Go Pink, you can boost your business, connect with the breast cancer community, and know you are helping to find a cure.
