Palm Beach Post–Tribute Walls Tell of Fears, Triumphs
January 26, 2014
Men and women, young and old, had messages for somebody they loved or cared for to share at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday.
By the time the Race was over, four “Tribute Walls” were already covered with text, with people having to squeeze in new messages among the heartfelt notes.
At any given moment, someone was at the walls, plastic sheets hanging at the Meyer Amphitheatre, as people took markers to write something for loves ones.
And each message elicited a story of struggles with a disease with which more than 200,000 US women were diagnosed in 2013, according to federal statistics.
