SunSentinel–Locals play significant roles in Race for the Cure

Boca Raton walkers, teams and volunteers are expected to have a significant presence at the 23rd annual Komen South Florida Race for the Cure in downtown West Palm Beach on Jan. 25.
“We have a lot of great support from the Boca area and we would love even more,” said Davye L. Gabbard, executive director of Susan G. Komen South Florida. “We have over 1,000 race participants identified, so we have terrific support network in the Boca community.”
Thirty-five teams from Boca Raton took part in the 2013 race. This year, 23 teams had registered as of Jan. 2, according to the local affiliate, based at Good Samaritan Medical Center that awards grants for programs in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.
