“Forty-eight lives in our community were saved last year through early detection. We save lives every day with Komen-funded services,” explains Dayve Gabbard. Gabbard, executive director of the South Florida affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, emphasized that 75 percent of the money raised by the affiliate, is dedicated to the people and communities it serves, in their fight against breast cancer. She says quite succinctly, “No money, no services.”
