Everything was “in the pink” as hundreds of Susan G. Komen South Florida volunteers, breast cancer survivors, co-survivors and supporters showed up for the 8th annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon last week at the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton.
The luncheon also celebrated the Florida legislature’s recent passage of an oral chemotheraphy parity law which was signed by Governor Scott. As a result, health insurance companies will be required to cover the cost of oral cancer drugs the same way they cover the cost of IV or injectable drugs. And for women with breast cancer, as well as cancer patients of all types, the law means access to medication that is often more effective and has fewer side effects.
