Good news for cancer patients at Pink Ribbon Luncheon

As the 25th state to pass a chemotherapy pill parity law for co-pays, and with new targeted cancer treatments on the horizon, there was a lot to celebrate at the eighth annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon.
Patients are paying thousands in co-pays for the pill form of all anti-cancer drugs instead of IV treatments until the new state law goes into effect in July. She said had to come up with $1,500 out of pocket every three weeks, survivor Aileen Pruitt told 300 supporters of Komen South Florida at Woodfield Country Club on Oct. 9. State Rep. Debbie Mayfield and State Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto were credited with leading a three-year effort to pass the bill.
