Palm Beach Post–Thousands Pink Up for Race for the Cure
January 26, 2013
The women were there. Of course they were. It was a Saturday morning in late January, Flagler Drive was awash in pink to spread the message of breast cancer, so nobody was surprised to see a sea of women turn out to make a statement.
But the 22nd annual Susan G. Komen South Florida Race for the Cure will be remembered for reasons beyond that. It’ll also be remembered as a year the event branched out as never before to welcome men and children touched by the disease either as victims — yes, men contract breast cancer, too — or as offspring fearful of losing their mother.
