Komen South Florida News–Team Tax PBC

January 2, 2013

In December, Palm Beach County Constitutional Tax Collector Anne Gannon presented a $5000 check to the Komen South Florida Affiliate, reflecting funds raised by employee year-long contributions to “Dress Down Fridays.” At the check presentation, Gannon reiterated the importance of early detection and education while employees shared personal survivor testimonials.

More than 100 staff members in the West Palm Beach office gathered at the breakfast appreciation meeting. Employees heard from Executive Director Penny Westberry and Carrie Kufta, director of development, who were on hand to accept the check and thank employees for their continued support. After the presentation, employees were inspired to share personal stories of triumph and survival.

Gannon’s “Team Tax PBC” is already gearing up for the 2013 Race! An agency-wide bake sale in December raised more than $600 and in January, employees will participate in a drawing for farm fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables donated graciously by an employee and breast cancer survivor!

Participation in the 2013 Race for the Cure is part of the agency’s year-round wellness initiative which was the recipient of the 2012 South Florida Worksite Wellness Forum Award bestowed by the Florida Heart Research Institute in partnership with the Consortium for a Healthier Miami Dade.
